Dahab is one of the most important tourist cities in Egypt. It is considered the second most popular city in Sinai after Sharm El Sheikh. Dahab covers an area of 1130 square kilometers. It is located on the Gulf of Aqaba, southeast of Sinai, 81 km from Sharm El Sheikh.
The word Dahab means gold. This city was called with this name because the sands of the beaches of Dahab resemble the color of gold.
The most important thing that distinguishes Dahab is that it has comfortable, clean hotels, and affordable. Also, there are luxury international resorts that make Dahab is suitable for all categories of tourists.
In the past, Dahab was a small village. Then in the late nineties, the Egyptian government gave it attention as it built many hotels and tourist resorts there to attract tourists.
In Dahab, many activities can be done, such as camel riding, safari in the desert to enjoy the charming landscape, and Medical tourism. Also, there are centers for the treatment of various diseases such as arthritis.
The most common activities in Dahab are:
1- Windsurfing: Dahab is famous for windsurfing because of the wind speed there as it is surrounded by mountains on all sides.
2-Skydiving: Tourists come to get the experience of skydiving in Dahab. Therefore, there are many skydiving schools around this place.
The most famous attractions in Dahab:
Blue Hole: It is the most famous and beautiful beach in Dahab. It is a huge blue hole in the middle of the sea with a depth of 100 meters. Diving in the Blue Hole is a difficult adventure, as it requires a lot of experience, but it is exciting to explore life under the water at that place.
The lighthouse: It is a beach called with this name because it is close to the lighthouse of Dahab. In the lighthouse, there are various coral reefs and many beautiful Red Sea fish. Its depth ranges from 35 to 50 meters. Therefore, diving there is easy. Also, you can dive at night to enjoy the underwater life that cannot be seen during the day.
Ras Abu Galoum Reserve: It distinguishes the existence of unique sea snakes and several types of birds.
Al-Masbat area: It is the commercial section in Dahab. It starts from Al-Fanar Street. It contains many shops to buy souvenirs and Bedouin-style cafes. Also, it houses many hotels.
From Dahab, you can go in a day tour to St. Catherine and enjoy climbing the Sinai Mountains, such as Moses Mountain.
