The Valley of the Queens was built to be the place where housing the tombs of queens, princes, and princesses of Egypt during the New Kingdom.
The Valley of the Queens is located on the western bank of the Nile in 卢克索. Tombs of the Valley of the Queens are characterized by their small size compared with tombs of the Valley of the Kings. The construction of these tombs consists of a small room, a long corridor, several side rooms, and at the end of the tomb, there is the burial chamber.
The Valley of the Queens was discovered in 1904 by Schiaparelli. It contains about 90 tombs. It was decorated with religious scenes and books of the other world.
The most important tombs of the Valley of the Queens
1 – Tomb of Queen Nefertari, the beloved wife of King Ramses II
This tomb is characterized by its beautiful scenes and wonderful colors, as scenes of burning incense to Queen Nefertari, making offerings to the gods Osiris and Atum, and the burial chamber covered with scenes from the Book of Gates.
2 – Tomb No. 55
Prince Amun Khubshev, son of King Ramses III. He died at a young age. This tomb is decorated with scenes of the prince with his father making offerings to the gods, and scenes from the Book of Gates.
3 – Tomb No. 44
Prince Kha M Wast, son of King Ramses III. This tomb was decorated with scenes of the prince with his father in front of the gods of the other world.
