Montazah Palace is the last royal palace built during the pirod of the Muhammad Ali family , one of the most beautiful royal palaces in Egypt. and one of the most important landmarks of Alexandria, where the palace is located east of 亚历山德里亚 directly on the sea coast.
The site of the palace was chosen by Khedive Abbas Helmy II, as he decided to build the Montazah Palace in 1892, where he used to ride horses near the area of Sidi Bishr because of the beauty of the sea views there. Montazah Palace and its gardens were the summer residence of the royal family.
Khedive Abbas Helmy II chose the architect Dmitri Fabersious to design the palace and blended in its design the Byzantine, classical, Gothic and Islamic styles of architecture.
1925 During the reign of King Fouad I, the Haramlek was built and consists of 3 floors.
The first floor includes the king’s office and the dining hall.
The second floor houses the princesses’ suites.
The third floor includes two suites for the king and queen, and between them is a huge balcony.
The palace was used as a military hospital during the First World War for British soldiers and then King Farouk renovated and restored the palace, but after the 1952 revolution the palace became the property of the Egyptian government.
The palace is surrounded by spacious gardens of 3000 square metres, which include a large collection of rare trees and tropical plants.
The gardens also include King Farouk’s tea kiosk, which was opened to the public in 2020.
