Luxor Museum is located on the Nile Corniche between Luxor Temple and Karnak Complex in Luxor City. It was built in 1975 to be the first museum in Luxor city. The museum is 55 meters long and 29 meters wide.
This museum is opened in 1975. It consists of 2 floors displaying well-carved statues. In 1989, the cache hall was added to the museum to display the statues discovered in the cache of Luxor Temple. These statues are for gods and kings.
This museum consists of two floors and contains masterpieces from the Middle Kingdom and the New Kingdom. The museum garden contains a group of wonderful exhibits.
On the first floor of the museum, there is an impressive collection of Egyptian antiquities such as:
- Mud brick wall of the temple of Akhenaten (1347-1364 BC)
- Statue of King Thutmose III is 90 cm tall.
- A statue of King Amenhotep III was brought from Medinet Habu. It is 130 cm tall and is made of black granite.
- Group of Ushabti statue belongs to the 18th family. It is made of colored wood and is 23 cm long. It represents a man holding an ax in his right hand and a bag of seeds in the left hand.
- Cartonnage of plaster and linen is 175 cm long and 42 cm wide.
- The mummy of King Ahmose I has been in the museum since 2004.
- Statue of King Amenhotep III and the God of Sobek from calcite.
- Statue of King Horemheb with the God Atum.
- Statue of goddess Hathor in black granit.
