Kafr El Sheikh Museum was opened on October 31, 2020 AD, as a part of the new projects of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to open new museums in Egypt, as Kafr El Sheikh Museum was opened with Sharm El Sheikh Museum and The Royal Carriages Museum on the same day.
Kafr El Sheikh Museum is located in Kafr El Sheikh Governorate, next to Kafr El Sheikh University, in Sana’a Garden.
The history of Kafr El Sheikh Governorate:
Kafr El Sheikh Governorate had a great history that dates back to the ancient Egyptian civilization, where there was the city of Bhutto. It is also known as Tell Al-Faraeen. Bhutto was the capital of Lower Egypt before the unification of ancient Egypt by King Menes or Narmer. King Narmer started the first dynasty and established the first capital of ancient Egypt, Memphis.
Kafr El Sheikh Governorate is the third heritage city in Egypt after Cairo and Rasheed(Rosetta City). Also, it includes the city of Fuwah, which is rich in Islamic heritage.
Kafr El Sheikh Museum:
The idea of establishing Kafr El Sheikh Museum dates back to 1993 AD. The construction began in 2002 AD to be completed and opened to the public in 2020 AD. It is established with cost 49 million pounds. The museum includes 735 artifacts.
The museum includes three halls that display the history of Kafr El Sheikh by displaying the artifacts discovered in Kafr El Sheikh Governorate in the Great Bhutto cemetery.
The first hall: It exhibits the conflict between the god Horus and the god Set. Also, it houses a unique statue of the falcon of Horus, similar to the statue of Edfu temple.
The second hall: It displays the history of the city of Sakha, the city that hosted the Holy Family during their journey in Egypt.to escape Roman persecution.
The third hall: It shows the history of science in historical times such as medicine, veterinary, and pharmacy.
The museum is accessible for people with special needs, as it has special paths for them.
